About the Wildfires

Objectives

.
The Hunter Wildfires are part of Hunter Rugby, a ‘not for profit’ Regional Community sporting body with the constitutionally stated objectives to foster, promote and administer Rugby in its zone, and to establish rules, regulations and directions to govern the Union’s rugby competitions, and the conduct of players, officials, and members of clubs and bodies.

Representation

.
Founded in 1869, Hunter Rugby is the largest non-capital city Rugby Union in Australia with a proud history of producing State and National players. The HR Zone extends from Greater Newcastle to Nelson Bay, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Maitland, The Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie.

We are proud of our representation in Premier and Divisional Rugby – this focus has assisted Hunter Rugby in fostering and retaining local talent, and heightened Community interest and engagement in our sport. This strategy – coupled with our stated commitment to expanding and strengthening our representation in, and support of, the Women’s Game and our Indigenous players and fostering our gifted Juniors talent – is demonstrably resulting in a more diverse and inclusive profile for our organisation across all Community demographics. Our philosophy to provide inclusive access to our sport for all who want to play and engage, is being rewarded with wide-reaching awareness, trust and support for the Hunter Rugby brand and the game of Rugby.

We have committed to build on the ‘positive’ at a time when the ‘negative’ seems to be the norm.
